We maintain two public gardens - the Community Garden and the Wildlife Garden.

Our Community Garden is the centre point of the village.
It's a place to sit beneath the Willow Tree, chat with friends, read the newspaper, or simply eat your fish & chips and watch the world go by. During the festive season, we will be holding a carol concert there.

The Wildlife Garden is more secluded, tucked away next to The Normanby pub, adjacent to the secret door leading to our local baby hospice Zoe's Place. We are on the final phase of the application to get Lottery Funding and hopefully they will find in our favour at their November meeting. If we are successful, this will enable us to seriously improve the design and landscaping of the Wildlife Garden including beautiful ornamental entrance gates. This will be a lovely place to be enjoyed by all ages alike.

Local committee members maintain the gardens on a voluntary basis - feel to get involved.
We really want to see those green fingers of yours!

Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park

Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park is around 50 hectares of mixed woodland, wetland and open wildflower meadows. Situated on the former site of Normanby Brickworks on the edge of Eston Hills, the country park offers stunning panoramic views of both industrial Teesside and the North Yorkshire Moors. With its easy reach and fantastic vantage points, the park is an invaluable asset to schools, community groups and the thousands of people who visit each year.

In 2009, the park was awarded the National Green Flag from the Civic Trust for achieving a high standard in parks and green spaces. The park is managed by official wardens - supported by volunteers - and they are always looking for new volunteers. For further information about the Country Park and its activities, telephone: 01642 459629.
